VEGOILS-Palm oil ticks higher from 8-week low, Omicron worries linger

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures rose on Wednesday, after hitting an eight-week low in the previous session, as broader markets recovered from a sell-off sparked by concerns over the Omicron coronavirus variant, although lingering fears capped gains.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange gained 23 ringgit, or 0.49%, to 4,695 ringgit ($1,117.59) a tonne in early trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for November rose 13.8% to 1,681,059 tonnes from October, cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance said on Wednesday.

Oil prices clawed back some losses after steep falls in the previous session, as major producers prepared to discuss how to respond to the threat of a hit to fuel demand from the Omicron variant.

Stronger crude oil futures make palm a more attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

Palm oil giant FGV Holdings said migrant workers should start arriving by end-March 2022 in Malaysia to ease a labour shortage and reverse a slump in output, provided Omicron doesn't disrupt plans.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 1.5%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 eased 1%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 1.3%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil may test a support at 4,555 ringgit per tonne, a break below which could cause a fall into 4,434-4,480 ringgit range, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

MARKET NEWS
Asian stocks rose from a one-year low as U.S. share futures and oil recovered from the previous day's selloff, but uncertainty over the impact of the Omicron coronavirus variant kept investors on edge.

VEGOILS-Palm hits three-week low on Omicron variant fears

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell to three-week lows on Tuesday, weighed down by concerns that the Omicron coronavirus variant would disrupt demand for global edible oils.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 85 ringgit, or 1.75%, to 4,772 ringgit ($1,127.87) a tonne in early trade, hitting its lowest since Nov. 9.

FUNDAMENTALS
Expectations for lower November production and robust exports limited losses in palm oil futures as investors awaited cargo surveyor data due later in the day.

Indonesia set its crude palm oil export reference price at $1,365.99 per tonne for December, up from November's $1,283.38 per tonne, a Trade Ministry regulation released on Monday showed.

Indonesia's 2022 unblended biodiesel consumption is seen at 10 million kilolitres (KL), up from the targeted 9.2 million KL this year, according to a senior energy ministry official.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 2.7%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 dropped 2.4%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were down 1.7%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil still targets its Nov. 9 low of 4,706 ringgit per tonne, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

MARKET NEWS
Asian share markets were trading in positive territory as investors became cautiously optimistic the new Omicron variant might not cause a widespread global economic disruption to worsen the coronavirus pandemic.

VEGOILS-Palm oil eases as crude weakens, set for weekly loss

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures slipped on Friday on course for a weekly decline, weighed down by weaker crude and rival oil prices.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 23 ringgit, or 0.47%, to 4,904 ringgit ($1,157.42) a tonne during early trade.

The contract is down 1.8% for the week, after posting two straight weekly jumps, also hurt by a forecast for stronger production of top vegetable oils next year.

FUNDAMENTALS
Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Nov. 1-25 rose between 4.5% and 10.9% from the same period in October, according to cargo surveyors' data on Thursday.

The pace of shipments, however, have slowed down from a monthly rise of between 9% and 18% seen during Nov. 1-20.

Oil prices slid more than 1% on concerns that a global supply surplus could swell in the first quarter following a coordinated release of crude reserves among major consumers.

Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 0.2%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 slipped 0.5%. The Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 was closed for a public holiday.

The ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, fell 0.2% against the dollar, making the edible oil cheaper for holders of foreign currency.

Palm oil may break a support at 4,902 ringgit per tonne, and fall to the next support at 4,827 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

MARKET NEWS
Stocks fell and headed for their largest weekly drop in nearly two months, while safe haven assets such as bonds and the yen rallied as a new virus variant added to swirling concerns about future growth and higher U.S. interest rates.

VEGOILS-Palm extends gains as rivals jump, ringgit weakens

SINGAPORE, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures extended gains for a second day on Thursday, as the ringgit weakened and they tracked higher prices of rivals on the Dalian Commodity Exchange.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose 27 ringgit, or 0.6%, to 4,944 ringgit ($1,171.84) during early trade.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 jumped 1.6%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 traded 1.5% higher.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils that compete in the global vegetable oils market.

Aiding prices further, ringgit MYR= fell 0.2% against the dollar, making the edible oil cheaper for holders of foreign currency.

Palm oil FCPOc3 may test a support at 4,827 ringgit per tonne, a break below which could cause a fall into a range of 4,706 ringgit to 4,781 ringgit, Reuters technicals analyst Wang Tao said.

FUNDAMENTALS
Oil prices ticked lower, with investors waiting to see how major producers respond to the emergency crude release by major consuming countries designed to cool the market, even as data pointed to healthy U.S. fuel demand.

Asian shares wobbled lower, hurt by the U.S. dollar which continued to march higher as investors bet on interest rates rising more quickly in the United States than in other major economies such as Japan and the euro zone.

Capping gains, however, were cheaper prices of rival oils.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 0.8%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 traded 1.4% lower. Soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade for January delivery BOc2, however, were up 0.7%.

VEGOILS-Palm falls for second day on weaker rivals, crude oil

SINGAPORE, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures edged lower for a second straight session on Monday, as rival oils slid and crude prices hit seven-week lows.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 31 ringgit, or 0.6% to 4,962 ringgit during early trade.

Crude oil extended declines after the previous session's slide, on concerns about excess supply after Japan said it was weighing releasing oil reserves and over demand from a worsening COVID-19 situation in Europe.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 1.9%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 traded 1.1% lower.

Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOc2, meanwhile, were up 0.2%.
Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Capping the losses, however, were higher palm oil exports in the November 1-20 period. They rose at least 8% from the same period a month ago, data from cargo surveyors showed on Saturday.

Palm oil may test a support zone of 4,926-4,960 ringgit per tonne, following its failure to break a resistance at 5,071 ringgit, Reuters technicals analyst Wang Tao said.

FUNDAMENTALS
A jump in U.S. business activity and home sales helped push global equities and the dollar higher on Friday, counteracting earlier stock declines in Europe. Oil fell about 1%.

VEGOILS-Palm eases on profit-taking, but benchmark set for weekly gain

JAKARTA, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures edged lower on Friday as traders locked in profits after a recent strong performance, though the benchmark was poised for a modest weekly gain.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 0.20% to 4,988 ringgit ($1,193.02) during early trade on Friday.

FUNDAMENTALS
Malaysia's palm oil production is expected to slow down as the peak season ends while the moonsoons bring in more rainfall.

Exports from the world's second-largest producer during Nov. 1-15 jumped as much as 29% from the previous month, cargo surveyors earlier this week.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 gained 0.79%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 rose 1.65%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 0.39%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil may rise into a range of 5,048 ringgit to 5,101 ringgit per tonne, driven by a wave c, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

MARKET NEWS
Oil prices steadied on Friday as investors paused for breath following a day of wild swings prompted by the prospect of coordinated action by the world's major economies to release official crude reserves from stocks.

Asian shares fell on Friday as disappointing earnings from Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba heightened worries about Beijing's broad regulatory crackdown and slowing growth in the world's second-biggest economy.

VEGOILS-Palm oil futures slip on weaker crude

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures slipped on Thursday, erasing gains from the previous session as crude prices weakened, but upbeat outlooks on exports and output limited losses.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for February delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 23 ringgit, or 0.47%, to 4,876 ringgit ($1,166.79) during early trade.

The contract had climbed 2.3% in the previous session.

FUNDAMENTALS
U.S. oil was under pressure, adding to an overnight plunge on a Reuters report that the United States was asking major oil consumers like China and Japan to consider a coordinated release of oil reserves to lower prices.

Weaker crude oil futures make palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

Production in Malaysia is expected to slow down as the peak season ends and the moonsoon season brings in more rainfall.

Exports from the world's second largest producer during Nov. 1-15 jumped as much as 29% from the month before, cargo surveyors said this week.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 gained 1.2%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 rose 1.4%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 0.2%.
