VEGOILS-Palm falls for third day, hits near-one-month low

JAKARTA, May 31 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures plunged for a third straight session on Wednesday and hit their lowest in nearly a month.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for August delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 3.03% to 3,289 ringgit ($744.08) per tonne in morning trade.

The contract looked set to book a third monthly drop after extending losses from its worst day in two weeks on weaker rival edible oil prices and expectations of rising output in May.

FUNDAMENTALS
Malaysia's exports during May 1-25 fell 0.7% from the same period in April, cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services said on Friday. Another cargo surveyor, AmSpec Agri Malaysia, said exports rose 0.7%.

May production is expected to rise between 20% and 30% from April, rebounding from the lows seen during the Raya holidays, analysts said.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 4.11%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was down 4.39%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 dropped 1.32%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil FCPOc3 may revisit its April 28 low of 3,288 ringgit per tonne, as it has broken key support of 3,363 ringgit, said Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao.

MARKET NEWS
Asia's stock markets slid toward a second month of losses in a row on Wednesday, and even the glittering Nikkei paused, as weak Chinese factory activity fed growing doubts about the post-pandemic recovery in the world's second-biggest economy.

VEGOILS-Palm slides for second day tracking weaker edible oils

SINGAPORE, May 30 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures extended losses for a second straight session on Tuesday, tracking weakness in rival edible oils.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for August delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 0.93% to 3,509 ringgit ($791.21) per tonne in morning trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
Crude palm oil production in Malaysia, the world's second-largest producer, could drop between 1 and 3 million tonnes next year due to the El Nino weather pattern, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board said last Thursday.

Malaysia's exports during May 1-25 fell 0.7% from the same period in April, cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services said on Friday. Another cargo surveyor, AmSpec Agri Malaysia, said exports rose 0.7%.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 dipped 1.0%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was down 0.9%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 fell 0.1%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil FCPOc3 may retest support at 3,498 ringgit per tonne, as it failed twice to break a resistance at 3,563 ringgit, said Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao.

VEGOILS-Palm recoups losses on weaker ringgit, higher output expectations weigh

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures gained on Tuesday, recouping some of the previous session's losses, as the ringgit weakened, although expectations of higher production weighed on the market.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for August delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange gained 25 ringgit, or 0.73%, to 3,453 ringgit ($778.58) a tonne in early trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
"China and India have seen a decrease in their palm oil inventories and import margins have improved," Refinitiv Agriculture Research said in a note late on Monday.

On production, Refinitiv said widespread dryness and warmth have been observed in the region, which should facilitate harvesting and crop evacuation.

The ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, fell 0.26% against the dollar, making the commodity cheaper for holders of foreign currency.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 0.5%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 gained 0.03%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were down 0.2%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil may retest a resistance at 3,498 ringgit per tonne, a break above which could lead to a gain to 3,563 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

GRAINS-Wheat falls for third session as Black Sea export deal extended

SINGAPORE, May 18 (Reuters) - Chicago wheat futures lost more ground on Thursday, as an extension of a deal to allow war-ravaged Ukraine to continue exporting grains eased concerns over world supplies.

Corn slid to trade near an 18-month low hit in the previous session after China cancelled purchases of U.S. cargoes and as favourable weather helped newly planted crops in the Midwest.

FUNDAMENTALS
The most-active wheat contract of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) Wv1 slid 0.8% to $6.20-1/4 a bushel, as of 0019 GMT, extending losses for a third session. Corn CV1 fell 0.8% to $5.57 a bushel and soybeans Sv1 gave up 0.3% to $13.32-1/2 a bushel.

The Ukraine Black Sea grain deal has been extended for two more months, in what U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hailed as "good news for the world," a day before Russia could have quit the pact over obstacles to its grain and fertiliser exports.

Corn futures faced pressure after the U.S. Department of Agriculture said private exporters cancelled purchases of 272,000 tonnes of old-crop U.S. corn earmarked for China, the fourth such cancellation in the last month.

Meanwhile, the 2023 U.S. corn and soybean crops are off to a solid start, with a faster-than-average planting pace and mostly crop-friendly weather pointing towards rising supplies.

Commodity funds were net sellers of CBOT wheat, soybean, corn, soyoil and soymeal futures contracts on Wednesday, traders said.

MARKET NEWS
Wall Street rallied to a higher close on Wednesday, gathering momentum throughout the afternoon trading, and the dollar touched a six-week high as regional banks surged and negotiations in Washington over raising the debt ceiling progressed.

VEGOILS-Palm oil slips as higher output, Black Sea deal extension weigh

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures dropped on Thursday for a fourth consecutive session, as hopes of higher production and an extension of the Black Sea export deal raised the prospects of improved global supply.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for August delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 17 ringgit, or 0.5%, to 3,417 ringgit ($770.46) a tonne during early trade, hovering near a two-week low hit in the previous session.

FUNDAMENTALS
"The absence of positive market-moving factors and expectations for a rise in May production are likely to cap a recovery attempt," a Kuala Lumpur-based trader said.

Indonesia, the world's largest palm oil exporter, on Wednesday urged importing countries to recognise and pay the premium for sustainably produced palm oil rather than boycotting the widely-used oil, whose production critics say has been linked to deforestation.

The Ukraine Black Sea grain deal has been extended for two more months, in what U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres hailed as "good news for the world," a day before Russia could have quit the pact over obstacles to its grain and fertiliser exports.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 0.5%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 slipped 0.03%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 1.12%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil may retest a support zone of 3,344 ringgit to 3,363 ringgit per tonne, a break below could open the way towards 3,288 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

VEGOILS-Palm oil eases from one-month peak ahead of key data

KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures slipped on Wednesday, after closing at a one-month high in the previous session, as traders awaited key data due later in the day.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for July delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange slid 41 ringgit, or 1.08%, to 3,766 ringgit ($849.15) a tonne during early trade, after a five-session rally.

FUNDAMENTALS
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and cargo surveyors are scheduled to release key supply and demand data later in the day.

Expectations of a sharp decline in production and inventories have lifted prices in the last five sessions, although concerns over demand weighed.

Ukraine's sunflower oil output could total 4.5-4.7 million tonnes in the 2022/23 September-August season and up to 6 million tonnes in 2023/24, as farmers plan to increase the crop area, the sunoil producers' association said on Tuesday.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

VEGOILS-Palm oil surges on stronger rival oils, set to post weekly gains

JAKARTA, May 5 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures rose on Friday and are set to post a weekly gain, supported by gains in some rival vegetable oils.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for July delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange gained 82 ringgit, or 2.39%, to 3,507 ringgit ($790.76) a tonne during early trade. The contract has gained 5% so far in the week.

FUNDAMENTALS
Malaysia's palm oil inventories at the end of April are forecast to drop to their lowest level in 11 months as domestic use rises amid flat production, a Reuters survey showed on Friday.

India's palm oil imports in April fell 30% from a month earlier to hit a 14-month low, as its premium over rival soft oils prompted price-sensitive buyers to shift to sunflower oil and soyoil, five dealers told Reuters on Wednesday.

Palm oil FCPOc3 may bounce further to 3,504 ringgit per tonne, as suggested by a falling channel.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 dropped 0.11%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 increased 1.72%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOc2 were up 0.15%.

India, Russia suspend negotiations to settle trade in rupees: Report

India and Russia have suspended efforts to settle bilateral trade in rupees after months of negotiations failed to convince Moscow to keep rupees in its coffers, two Indian government officials and a source with direct knowledge of the matter said. This would be a major setback for Indian importers of cheap oil and coal from Russia who were awaiting a permanent rupee payment mechanism to help lower currency conversion costs.

VEGOILS-Palm oil surrenders sharp gains on poor demand, exports

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Wednesday, giving up sharp gains clocked in the previous session, as sluggish export shipments and poor demand weighed on prices.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for July delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange lost 35 ringgit, or 1.02%, to 3,386 ringgit ($759.70) a tonne during early trade. The contract rose 2.5% in the previous session.

FUNDAMENTALS
Malaysia's palm oil exports during April declined 18% from the month before, cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services said on Monday. Another cargo surveyor, AmSpec Agri Malaysia, recorded a 21% decline in shipments.

Unattractive palm prices versus rival vegetable oils and well-stocked destination markets have curtailed buying appetite for palm oil, Refinitiv Agriculture Research said in a note late Tuesday.

Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 fell 0.3%. The Dalian exchange was closed for a public holiday.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

MARKET NEWS
Asian stocks fell for a second day on Wednesday, as global investors contended with signs of a softening U.S. economy, and were in full flight from U.S. regional lenders, ahead of an expected U.S. interest rate hike later in the day.
