VEGOILS-Palm oil opens higher on rival oil strength

JAKARTA, Oct 30 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures opened higher on Monday, following two consecutive sessions of gains, underpinned by strength in rival edible oils.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for January delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange went up 19 ringgit, or 0.50%, to 3,794 ringgit ($798.40) a metric ton in the morning trade.

The contract posted third consecutive weekly gain of 0.11% on Friday.

FUNDAMENTALS
Palm oil on the European vegetable oils market was bullish on Friday following stronger Malaysian palm oil futures as strength in China's edible oil market supported prices, while lacklustre demand for the tropical products limited gains in prices.

Indonesia's August palm oil exports, including refined products, stood at 2.07 million metric tons, down 55% from the same month last year, association GAPKI said in a statement on Friday.

Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 increased 0.57%.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 was up 1.31%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was also up 0.97%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Indonesia on Friday flew its first commercial flight using palm-oil blended jet fuel on a Boeing 737-800NG aircraft operated by flag carrier Garuda Indonesia from its capital Jakarta to Surakarta in Central Java.

The Malaysian ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, strengthened 0.5% against the dollar. A stronger ringgit makes palm oil less attractive for foreign currency holders.

Oil prices slipped $1 a barrel on Monday as investors adopted caution ahead of the Fed policy meeting and China's manufacturing data later this week, offsetting support from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Stronger crude makes palm a more attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

Malaysian palm oil product exports for Oct. 1-Oct. 25 were estimated to have fallen between 1.1% and 3.1% from a month earlier, data from independent inspection company AmSpec Agri Malaysia and Intertek Testing Services showed on Wednesday last week.

Palm oil FCPOc3 may break a resistance at 3,795 ringgit per metric ton and rise into the 3,822-3,842 ringgit range, said Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao.

VEGOILS-Palm declines on stronger ringgit, soyoil weakness

SINGAPORE, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell for a third consecutive session on Wednesday, weighed down by a stronger ringgit and tracking weakness in rival soyoil amid pressure from U.S. soybean harvest.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for January delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 17 ringgit, or 0.5% to 3,650 ringgit ($765.20) per metric ton in morning trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
A quick harvest pace for U.S. soy is likely to boost supplies of the oilseed and its products, including soyoil. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Farmers had harvested 76% of their soybean crop by Sunday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said after trading ended on Monday. The figures, roughly in line with trade expectations, were ahead of the five-year average pace for each crop.

Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 fell 0.2%, reaching the lowest level in four months.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 0.9%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was down 1.2%.

The Malaysian ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, strengthened 0.3% against the dollar. A stronger ringgit makes palm oil less attractive for foreign currency holders.

Palm oil may bounce to 3,720 ringgit per metric ton, as a wave c from 3,772 ringgit may have completed at the Tuesday low of 3,651 ringgit, said Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao.

VEGOILS-Palm oil falls 2% on stronger soybean harvest, ringgit

SINGAPORE, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Tuesday as rapidly advancing U.S. soybean harvest and a strengthening ringgit weighed on prices, although strong demand curbed losses.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for January delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 74 ringgit, or 2% to 3,679 ringgit ($770.15) a metric ton in early trade, and were on track for a second session of decline.

FUNDAMENTALS
Rapidly advancing U.S. soybean harvest is likely to boost supplies of the oilseed and its products, including soyoil. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share of the global vegetable oils market.

U.S. farmers had harvested three-quarters of their soybean crop and 59% of their corn by Sunday, according to weekly data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Monday.

The figures, roughly in line with trade expectations, were ahead of the five-year average pace for each crop.

The Malaysian ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, strengthened 0.3% against the dollar. A strong ringgit makes palm oil less attractive for foreign currency holders.
However, rising demand for palm oil is likely to prevent deeper losses.

Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Oct. 1-20 were estimated to have risen between 7.9% and 9.9% from a month earlier, data from AmSpec Agri Malaysia and Intertek Testing Services showed.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 fell 1.5%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was down 1.7%.

Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 fell 1.1%, its lowest in four months.

MARKET NEWS
Asian equities slipped to their lowest in more than 11 months on Tuesday, while the dollar wobbled in cautious trading ahead of a slew of economic data that will provide clues to the next steps from the U.S. Federal Reserve.

VEGOILS-Palm hits three-week high on rival oils strength

JAKARTA, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures rose for a second session on Thursday to hit their highest levels in three weeks, supported by gains in rival vegetable oils.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for January delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose 31 ringgit, or 0.81%, to 3,841 ringgit ($806.93) a metric ton in early trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Oct. 1-15 rose 5.6% from a month earlier, independent inspection company AmSpec Agri Malaysia said on Sunday. Another cargo surveyor, Intertek Testing Services, said exports rose 7.3%.

Cargo surveyor Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS)estimated exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Oct. 1-15 at 665,876 metric tons, according to LSEG.

Malaysia has maintained its November export tax for crude palm oil at 8% and lowered its reference price, a circular on the Malaysian Palm Oil Board website showed on Tuesday.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 slid 0.15%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 was up 0.41%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOc2 gained 0.15%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Oil prices fell, reversing gains in the previous session, after OPEC showed no signs of supporting Iran's call for an oil embargo on Israel and as the United States plans to ease Venezuela sanctions to allow more oil to flow globally.

Weaker crude makes palm a less attractive option for biodiesel feedstock.

Palm oil may test a support of 3,768 ringgit per metric ton, a break below which could open the way towards 3,720-3,729 ringgit.

VEGOILS-Palm oil range-bound; weak ringgit and rising exports extend support

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures eased on Monday in range trading but hovered near a two-week high hit in the previous session as a weaker ringgit and higher exports underpinned the contract.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for January delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange fell 14 ringgit, or 0.37%, to 3,745 ringgit ($790.08) a metric ton during early trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for October 1-15 rose 7.3% to 623,245 metric tons from 580,893 metric tons shipped during September 1-15, cargo surveyor Intertek Testing Services said on Sunday.

Indonesia lowered its crude palm oil (CPO) reference price for the Oct. 16-31 period to $740.67 per ton, from $827.37 per ton currently, a trade ministry regulation showed on Friday.

India's palm oil imports in September fell 26% from the previous month to 834,797 tons, the lowest in three months, as higher inventories prompted refiners to curtail purchases, a trade body said on Friday.

The Ringgit MYR=, palm's currency of trade, fell 0.32% against the dollar, making the commodity cheaper for buyers holding foreign currency.

Dalian's most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 rose 1.3%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 gained 1.8%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOcv1 were up 0.77%.

Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market.

Palm oil may extend gains into a range of 3,768 ringgit to 3,795 ringgit per ton, as it has pierced above a resistance zone of 3,720 ringgit to 3,730 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said.

MARKET NEWS

GRAINS-Soybeans set for first weekly gain since August after US harvest downgrade

CANBERRA, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Chicago soybean futures edged lower on Friday but were set for their first weekly gain since August after the U.S. government lowered its U.S. production forecast further than analysts had expected.

Corn and wheat also dipped. Both were set to end the week little changed.

FUNDAMENTALS
The most-active soybean contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) Sv1 was down 0.2% at $12.87-1/4 a bushel by 0108 GMT, but up 1.7% from last Friday's close.

Corn Cv1 fell 0.2% to $4.95 a bushel and wheat Wv1 was 0.1% lower at $5.71 a bushel.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in a monthly report on Thursday forecast the U.S. soybean harvest at 4.104 billion bushels, 42 million fewer bushels than predicted in September and 30 million bushels below an average of analysts' estimates.

The USDA also projected smaller soybean yields and soybean ending stocks holding steady at the September level.

For corn, the USDA predicted a harvest of 15.064 billion bushels, 37 million bushels beneath analysts' expectations.
U.S. soybean and corn crops were hit by hot and dry weather during critical parts of the growing season.

Separately, the USDA reported that exporters sold 295,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to unknown buyers and 124,545 metric tons of U.S. corn to Guatemala.

Plentiful soy and corn supply from Brazil, which has seen record harvests, pushed CBOT soybeans to $12.51 a bushel earlier this week, the lowest since December 2021, and CBOT corn to a 33-month low of $4.68 a bushel last month.

In Europe, consultancy Strategie Grains raised its forecast for this year's European Union wheat harvest by 0.6 million metric tons to 125.6 million tons and for its maize (corn) harvest by 1 million metric tons to 60.6 million tons.

China's agriculture ministry lifted its forecast for the upcoming corn crop by 1.15% to a record 288 million metric tons.

In Argentina, the Rosario grains exchange lowered its wheat harvest forecast and raised its soybean harvest estimate.

The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange also downgraded its forecast for Argentina's wheat crop during the 2023/2024 harvesting season by 0.3 million metric tons to 16.2 million tons.

England's wheat harvest this year is provisionally estimated at 12.81 million metric tons, down 10% from the previous season, the British government said.

CBOT wheat fell to a three-year low of $5.40 a bushel last month due to a flood of cheap exports from Russia.

Egypt's state grains buyer said on Thursday it bought 470,000 metric tons of wheat in an international tender, of which 300,000 tons was Russian. The lowest free-on-board offer was $259 per metric ton, traders said.

The USDA in its report forecast U.S. wheat ending stocks at 670 million bushels, 33 million bushels above the average of analysts' estimates.

A Russian drone strike hit a grain storage facility in the southern Ukrainian region of Odesa overnight, and some grain was damaged, a military spokesperson said.

Commodity funds were net buyers of Chicago soybeans, soymeal, soyoil, corn and wheat on Thursday, traders said.

MARKETS NEWS
U.S. Treasury yields rose and the dollar strengthened while global stock markets fell on Thursday after data showed U.S. consumer prices increased more than expected in September.

VEGOILS-Palm oil rebounds on export optimism, firm soyoil

MUMBAI, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures rebounded in early trade on Wednesday from a 3-1/2-month low hit in the previous session, tracking gains in rival soyoil amid hopes that exports would improve at lower price levels.

The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for December delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose 27 ringgit, or 0.76%, to 3,592 ringgit ($760.21) per metric ton in early trade.

FUNDAMENTALS
Soyoil futures on the Chicago Board of Trade BOc2 were up 0.54%, as of 0255 GMT.

Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for October 1-10 rose 12.5% to 29.6% from a month-ago levels, cargo surveyors data showed.

Malaysia's palm oil stocks at the end of September rose 9.6% to 2.31 million tons, the highest level in 11 months, data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) showed.

Crude palm oil production gained 4.33% in September to 1.83 million tons month-on-month, while palm oil exports dropped to 1.2 million tons, MPOB said.

India's palm oil imports in September dropped 26% from a month earlier after inventories jumped to record levels.

Oil prices were little changed in early Asian trade, as concerns eased about potential supply disruptions due to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia said on Tuesday it had completed a test flight using a palm oil-blended jet fuel on a Boeing 737-800NG aircraft.

MARKET NEWS
